moving

Since I like the format better, I’m going to switch over to my other (little updated) blog: mymindisrambling.tumblr.com

It may be short-lived if I’m not satisfied and want to come back, but for now, it makes sense. That High Lonesome Sound is now My Mind Is Ramblin’.

So long, for now.

Party in the USA

Yesterday, The Strokes’ frontman, Julian Casablancas, tweeted: “Yep. Party in the USA. March 5th.” Now, it might just be a coincidence, but Miley Cyrus is hosting SNL on March 5th and has a song by the aforementioned title. Could this mean The Strokes will be the musical guest that evening? One can only hope.

Regardless, they have a new album hitting the shelves March 22nd. After listening to the first single, “Under Cover of Darkness,” it sounds to be quite the return to form.

Brian Jacques

This morning, I learned that a favorite childhood writer of mine, Brian Jacques (of theĀ Redwall series fame) passed away at the age of 71. Jacques, who I learned pronounces his name “Jakes” after a fiery debate with a college friend, left an indelible imprint on my imagination. His world of sword-wielding mice and badgers appealed to both my love of animals and the fantastical. I read over 10 of his books all in all, and while they were a bit formulaic at times, they never failed to transport me to the sprawling Mossflower Wood or the grandiose Redwall Abbey. Mr. Jacques, you will be missed.

R.I.P.

The end of an era. Yesterday, the greatest rock duo in modern history called it quits. The White Stripes are no more. A sad day, indeed.

Persol 649 – classic cool a’la Steve McQueen. He also wore the folding versions (714)- but they are a bit more intense (and a lot more expensive).
